Birger Johannes Kaipiainen (1 July 1915 Pori – 18 July 1988 Helsinki) was a Finnish designer and ceramist. He has been described as a romantic who likes fantasy.

Kaipiainen’s works are characterized by stylized nature motifs such as flowers (especially violets), female figures, butterflies, dragonflies, fruits, berries and birds (especially larks and larks). In addition to the diversity of nature, he was influenced by art historical style periods and the classical cultures of ceramic art. Kaipiainen’s production was characterized by nostalgia and longing for a beautiful world. The majority of the works he made during his career consist of several thousand unique ceramic works. The general public knows him best from the Paratiisi, Apila and Sunnuntai crockery series produced with Arabia and from the wallpapers Night of the Larks (1958) and Ken on kiuruus kaunein (1958) made with Pihlgren and Ritola Oy.
