An original vintage Arabia Black & White Paratiisi oval plate, designed by celebrated Finnish ceramic artist Birger Kaipiainen.
The iconic Paratiisi pattern was originally designed in 1969, while this early monochrome Black & White version was produced for only a short period in the early 1970s. This example belongs to the original 1972–1974 production, long before the later reissues.
The original vintage version is particularly recognisable for its delicate, finely drawn black lines, creating a lighter and more graphic appearance than later production. The abundant composition of fruits, berries, violets and leaves makes Paratiisi one of the most distinctive classics of Finnish ceramic design.
This oval plate measures approximately 23 × 25 cm and is made of hard faience. A Finnish vintage reference documents this exact 23 × 25 cm BK-model format with the Arabia Wärtsilä Finland backstamp.
