A charming vintage Arabia Faenza Ruskeakukka sugar bowl with its original lid, produced in Finland between 1973 and 1977.

The celebrated Faenza form was designed by Finnish designer Peter Winquist, while the delicate Ruskeakukka (“Brown Flower”) decoration was created by Inkeri Seppälä, later known as Inkeri Leivo.

The decoration consists of hundreds of small brown flowers densely arranged against a clean white ground, giving the piece a wonderfully graphic yet delicate appearance characteristic of Finnish design from the 1970s.

The Faenza tableware was named after the Italian city of Faenza following the success of Winquist’s EH model at the city’s international ceramics competition. Today, Faenza remains one of Arabia’s best-known vintage tableware designs.
