A charming pair of Marimekko Päärynä mugs featuring Maija Isola’s iconic pear motif, originally designed in 1969.
Päärynä, meaning “pear” in Finnish, is a wonderfully simple and playful example of Isola’s bold approach to everyday forms. A fresh green pear is enlarged across the clean white ceramic surface, creating a graphic composition that feels both distinctly 1960s and remarkably contemporary.
What makes this pair especially delightful is the way the design continues across the two mugs: when placed together, the two halves visually form a complete pear. The small brown stem and subtle details add character to the otherwise beautifully minimal composition.
