A beautiful and collectible large 80 mm Kivi candleholder, designed by Heikki Orvola for Iittala / Marimekko.
Designed in 1988, Kivi has become one of the classics of Finnish glass design. Its simple cylindrical form is made from exceptionally thick coloured glass, allowing candlelight to glow beautifully through the material. Iittala describes the Kivi collection as a showcase of its expertise in coloured glass.
This is the larger 80 mm version, which is no longer in production and is considerably less common than the standard 60 mm Kivi. The rich purple glass gives the piece a particularly striking depth of colour.
