A beautiful vintage Aamu serving platter produced by Arabia Finland between 1971 and 1973.

The Aamu decoration was designed by celebrated Finnish ceramic artist Esteri Tomula, whose delicate and highly recognisable botanical illustrations appeared on many of Arabia’s most beloved tableware designs.

Aamu means “morning” in Finnish – a fitting name for this fresh blue-and-white pattern. Deep cobalt-blue flowers and gently curling stems form a continuous border around the clean white centre, creating a composition that feels both cheerful and beautifully balanced.

The decoration is paired with Arabia’s A-model, designed by Göran Bäck. Its softly rounded form provides a simple backdrop for Tomula’s detailed floral decoration.

Produced for only a relatively short period from 1971 to 1973, Aamu is a wonderful example of Finnish tableware design from the early 1970s.

This serving piece is particularly attractive for presenting pastries, bread, fruit or small dishes, while its graphic blue floral border also makes it a beautiful decorative piece for a vintage Arabia collection.
