• The Pallo pattern was designed by Maija Isola
• The pattern was created in the 1960s, a time when Marimekko was looking for bold, graphic and modern looks
• Pallo literally means “ball” – the pattern consists of large, rhythmically repeating circles
• It represents Isola’s style: clear, playful and timelessly graphic
Pallo mug
• The Pallo pattern has been used in many products (fabrics, clothing, interior design)
• The mug came later, when Marimekko started producing tableware in collaboration with Iittala
• Most current Pallo mugs are part of the Oiva tableware range, which was launched in the 2000s
• The tableware is made of stoneware and is dishwasher and microwave safe
